The amount of love and care poured into making this one of the best collector’s edition albums in video game vinyl history is why Oxenfree is among the greatest albums ever released. The die-cut translucent foil inlay on this album's cover and its surrounding artwork is just a masterwork in design and execution from iam8bit and Austin James. This is seriously one of the most unique albums in my collection from a design standpoint and I can see why it has become a desired album for many fans and collectors out there. As a sought after record by many fans and collectors I believe this is one album that is most deserving of a repress. Serene in its delivery, the way in which the melodies writhe and blend into the backdrop of analog filled bits and pounding bass makes this one of the most strangely peaceful horror soundtracks I have ever experienced and one that I highly recommend everyone to add to their collection!Īs one of the finest iam8bit releases to date, Oxenfree has become somewhat of a white whale in the video game vinyl scene. Sending you into this insurmountable cascade of melodies and tones, Andrew washes your very psyche in this wholly nostalgic yet disconcerting way that creates such an amazing listening experience. Through this method of composition, Andrew is able to breed this dissonance in your mind that only builds as this album spins wildly out of control. Displacing you into his own chamber of radio-filled static, Andrew is able to build a world of sound that has no discernible time period attached to it. Using a mixture of analog recordings played back and re-recorded on cassette and reel to reel, Andrew's unique sound design is what makes Oxenfree such an enjoyable experience.
